Swala is sited in a copse of majestic acacia trees at the edge of the Gurusi wetlands and the unfurling savannah beyond. The stands of ancient baobab trees, large family herds of elephants, prolific bird life and dry season concentrations of wildlife makes Tarangire the classic area for vacation holidays in Africa. However, Swala’s 12 private, permanent tents feature ensuite bathrooms with showers, complemented by fittings and fixtures crafts from local materials to mirror the understated elegance of the time-honored safari style. The elevated terraces on the tents are appointed towards the waterhole that attracts wildlife year-round to ensure that your African wildlife experiences do not finish when you leave your vehicle. Also one is senaraded by the resident wildlife, including impala (after which the camp is named), waterbuck, lion and various elephant groups. There is even a resident leopard that puts in the occasional guest appearance at the waterhole during dinner throughout your stay.

Mores, the camp looks east over the Gursi Swamp. The Gursi Swamp acts as a giant sponge soaking up water in the green season and then slowly releasing it during the dry season. The Gursi Swamp is one of the few sources of permanent water in the Tarangire ecosystem besides the Tarangire River, Silale Swamp and Lormakau Swamp. Massive concentrations of wildlife migrate to these few water sources during the dry season allowing for spectacular game viewing.

The camp Facilities include: a nine double tents, each attended by a personal butler and all placed to offer maximum privacy and tranquility. Each tent has en-suite facilities and hot running water. Private balconies with comfortable furnishings extend in front of each unit. The dining area, lounge and library are housed in the main public area, which affords spectacular views from its wooden deck, overlooking the permanent water hole plus Electricity (the camp uses inverted electrical energy)

Getting there: Note that most visitors arrive at Swala Camp after either a game drive in Ngorongoro Crater or Lake Manyara. It takes approximately 1.5 hours to drive from the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater to the Lake Manyara park gate, 1.5 hours to another gate(Tarangire park) past Lake Manyara ,2 hours from Tarangire to the camp accommodation.

Lemala Ngorongoro Camp

This Camp offers comfortable and secluded accommodation in the midst of the Tanzania wilderness. Each spacious tent is fitted with a wooden platform, rugs and heaters, and includes a private bathroom. The communal area is also designed to make you feel right at home. Lounge around on large sofas and read a book from the book corner, or just admire the beauty of the area. Guests are encouraged to dine communally, along with a nature expert. Being in a distance of around 5 minutes drives from the Ngorongoro Crater, it offers an intimate quiet game drive to all visitors. The camp is semi-permanent, allowing you to experience the best game viewing all year-round.

Getting there: The easiest way to get to the camp is by road which is around four hours drive from Arusha,two hours and half from Manyara airstrip,three hours and fifteen minutes from Lemala Ndutu,eighthours and fifteneen minutes from Lemala Mara, four hours and fifteen minutes from Lemala Tarangire and five hours from Lemala Seronera valley. However, one can also fly to the camp from Manyara airstrip which takes around two hours and fifteen minutes and transfers are arranged to the camp.
